Graduate Management Admission Test

Graduate Management Admission Test - assesses analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, including MBA and PhD in Business. It requires a good knowledge of grammar and algebra, geometry, and arithmetic.

GMAT assesses analytical writing and problem-solving abilities, while also addressing data sufficiency, logic, and critical reasoning skills that it believes to be vital to real-world business and management success. The test duration is 3.5 hours. It can be taken up to five times a year with atleast a 16 gap between 2 attempts.

The test fee is US $ 250. The score is valid for 5 years and is accepted by more than 2,100 universities worldwide. Around 250,000 test takers attempt the GMAT annually.

Score guide: Quantitative section: 0 to 60, in 1 point increments (only 6 to 51 reported),

Verbal section: 0 to 51, in 1 point increments (only 6 to 51 reported),

Integrated reasoning section: 1 to 8, in 1 point increments,

Analytical writing assessment: 0.0 to 6.0, in 0.5 point increments.

Graduate Record Examination

Graduate Record Examination Examination is a standardized test conducted by the Education Testing Services (ETS), which is accepted for graduate school admissions across the US. It is a computer based test which is administered by ETS and aims to measure verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing, and critical thinking skills.

The level of emphasis that is placed upon GRE scores varies by university and different departments within the same university as well. The importance of a GRE score can range from being a mere admission formality to an important selection criteria.

GRE is a computer based test with a duration of 3Hours and 45 Minutes. The score range for Analytical writing is 0.0 to 6.0 (in 0.5 point increments). For Verbal reasoning the score varies between 130 to 170 (in 1 point increments), and for Quantitative reasoning it is between 130 to 170 (in 1 point increments).

Like the GMAT, the score is valid for 5 years and the test can be attempted up to 5 times over the course of a year.

Test of English as a Foreign Language

Test of English as a Foreign Language is an internet based test, conducted by ETS, to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers who wish to study in English-speaking universities. The test is accepted by many English-speaking academic and professional institutions primarily in the United States.

The test duration varies from 3 Hours 10 Minutes to 4 Hours 20 Minutes covering 4 sections – Speaking, Reading, Writing and Structure .The score ranges between 0 and 30 for each section, so the total score will be between 0 and 120.

The cost of taking the test is US $ 160 to US $ 250, depending on the country. It can be taken multiple times a year with a 12 day gap between two attempts. The score is valid for a duration of 2 years.

International English Language Testing System

International English Language Testing System is an international standardised test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is preferred by UK universities and immigration department and also commonwealth nations like Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The test is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment.

No minimum score is required to pass the test. The result is in the form of Bands: Band 1 being non- user to band 9 which is expert user. Every institution sets a different threshold.

The test score is valid for 2 years. The duration of the test is 2 Hours 44 Minutes spread over 4 secions- Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

Pearson Test of English Academic

Pearson Test of English Academic is an English language test designed to assess the readiness of non-native English speakers to participate in a university-level English language instruction program. It is a relatively newer test, created to meet demand from institutions, government and other organizations for a more accurate way of testing non - native English language students who enter the English-speaking academia world.

PTE Academic is endorsed by the Graduate Management Admission Council. All Australian institutions accept PTE scores. The score is also accepted by several institutions in the US and UK.

PTE is a computer-based exam which focuses on real-life English used in academic surroundings. The test duration is 3 hours covering sections like Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Results are available within 5 working days.

The test scores are reported on the Global Scale of English, a standardized, numeric scale from 10 to 90 which can measure English language proficiency more precisely with reference to the widely known set of levels.

American College Testing

American College Testing is widely used for undergraduate admissions in the United is competitor to College Board's SAT. It is a computer based test which incorporates constructed response questions.

The ACT has seen a gradual increase in the number of test takers since its inception, and in 2011 the ACT surpassed the SAT for the first time in total test takers. It is accepted by all four-year degree colleges and universities in the U.S. The main four tests are scored individually on a scale of 1–36, and a Composite score is provided which is the whole number average of the four scores.

Scholastic Assessment Test

The Scholastic Assessment Test is widely used for undergraduate admissions in the United States. The SAT is owned and published by the College Board, a private, non- profit organization based in the US. It is developed and administered by ETS.

The present SAT format, introduced in 2016, takes three hours to finish, plus 50 minutes for the SAT with essay. The test costs US$45 (US$57 with essay) and additional processing fees if the test is taken outside of the US.

Scores range from 400 to 1600, combining test results from two 800-point sections: mathematics, and critical reading and writing. The test can be taken 7 times a year and are taken by more than a million students worldwide.
